If you need the flexibility to take your handheld Iridium 9505A or 9505 phone on or off your vehicle or boat, we recommend a docking station. The docking station has an RJ-11 port so that you can plug in conventional analog phones and cordless phones. Sophisticated sound filtering removes most of the whine and distortion that sometimes occurs on the Iridium network. The docking station even allows DTMF reception ability (a requirement when used in concert with an onboard PBX). A ringer indicates inbound calls. Other features include status indicators and a 9-pin RS-232 data port. Your 9505A battery even charges while docked! The dock station includes an adapter for 12 VDC vehicle power and an adapter for 115-240 VAC 50/60 Hz wall power.

Thrane & Thrane Vehicular Inmarsat M4
ISDN Voice, Fax, and Data -- on the move
Thrane & Thrane's Vehicular Inmarsat M4 system (shown right) provides ISDN 64,000 bps high speed data and internet access while you are on the move. The system will maintain a constant lock on the satellite to assure voice, fax, and data communications -- even while you are travelling. Full 128,000 bps communications can be achieved if your vehicle is large enough to support two vehicular antennas. Outfitter also offers realtime video communication equipment for use at 64,000 and 128,000 bps.

The EMS Cyclone is a vehicular version of the EMS Storm Inmarsat M4 terminal. This system has similar capabilities to the Thrane & Thrane but includes an internal multiplexer, and the EMS vehicular and land portable transceivers are compatible.

Marine & Vehicular Inmarsat Mini-M WorldPhones

You can use the Worldphone Marine while at sea or in coastal waters. A vehicular version, the WorldPhone Voyager, is also available. The marine antenna is pole-mounted so as to get a clear view of the sky. It continuously tracks the communication satellite -- even in the roughest conditions. The handset can be located below deck at distances up to 12 meters from the antenna (optional cabling can extend this up to 80 meters).
